Poetry in the Dark

How many years will it take?
Decades? Centuries? When
I was young I thought
We were wiser.
I was naive.

The cacao for my chocolate is
Every color of the spectrum.
Just pigment. Oddly, chocolate
Comes in the same colors as
The people who eat it and
The people who grow it.

Today, it’s all just
Chocolate.
