A Simple Shop on Elm St.

Dear Fellow Chocolate-Lover,

We had such a wonderful day celebrating our Grand Opening! We joined with several other new Elm Street retailers in a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was featured on WMUR Channel 9 News and in the Union Leader Newspaper. It was wonderful to welcome both new and old customers who came by to visit in a steady stream all day Thursday and Friday. Thanks to everyone who came by to make us feel welcome!

We received many enthusiastic comments about the decor of the shop and our chocolates. People love the relaxed feel of the space. Rich’s intent was to blend a little bit of Paris, Guatemala, and the old Manchester mills together and he has certainly accomplished that. We encourage our customers to sit and unwind or read a good book while enjoying a bowl of drinking chocolate, cup of tea or espresso. Speaking of the drinking chocolate, we gave out samples during the first week, and everyone’s response after tasting it was “Wow, this is so good!”

People marveled at the beautiful chocolates on display. One young boy who came in with his parents said “You can’t really eat that, can you?” He just couldn’t believe that a piece of chocolate that artfully created could actually be eaten rather than just admired! One woman commented that although she was sad to see Lee’s Book Spot go, there was only one kind of shop to take it’s place, and that would be a chocolate shop; so she was very happy to see how we had transformed the place. And there were many, many comments that Manchester needed a unique store like us and that they would all be back to see what the next new bonbon or truffle flavor combination will be.

In addition to myself, Donna McLintock has joined us, she will be working the counter afternoons and nights. Laura, Rich’s longtime chocolate apprentice, has been working hard all day on Saturdays making more beautiful bonbons and bars. We are all getting along great – this is really a sweet place to work!
