The Live Wire Truffle. Fresh red currants from the Manchester Farmers’ Market and fruity 67% Tango Madagascar-Ghana dark chocolate blend. After a moment, sweet earthy Tasmanian Leatherwood honey. The real stuff you can only get in Tasmania. (A big Thank You to my friend Chocolatier Samanta Bakker of KokoBlack Chocolates in Melbourne, Australia!) But wait… next comes the burn from a handful of tiny yellow and red chilis I brought back from Los Angeles. A splash of Malbec Grappa from Florence, Italy, pulls it all together at the end. A truly international truffle, and perhaps my favorite of all time. $3.50 per piece.
Then there’s Spiced Blue. New Hampshire wild blueberries caramelized lightly in sugar with a goodly dose of Guavaberry Liqueur from the Island of St. Maarten and a pinch of freshly-ground allspice blended into Valrhona’s Ivoire white chocolate and finished in a mirror-glossy or gold-dusted shell of Valrhona’s 66% Caraibe Caribbean dark chocolate. $2.50 per piece.
And one more… I have three beautiful Chinese Masks remaining. I’ve filled dark 67% Tango chocolate with a blend of red currants and leatherwood honey. Just fruit and chocolate, with a bit of happiness thrown in for measure. $2.50 per piece.

He Said Chocolate, She Said Wine at WineNot Boutique in Nashua. Wine expert Svetlana Yanushkevich is pulling out the stops (corks?) to serve up some of the absolute finest wines in the house. I’m pairing each with either a handcrafted bonbon or a rare and delicate chocolate. As wine and chocolate tastings go, this one will be over the top. $50 per person, limited seating. Call 603.624.5569 to reserve.
Cross your fingers and mark your calendars. With a bit of luck and a whole lot of hard work, Dancing Lion Chocolate will be opening the new shop at 917 Elm St. on Wed., October 12th. We gave away over 40,000 books, and last week completed the demolition. Tomorrow, we’ll begin construction on what I hope you’ll find to be the most amazing and beautiful chocolate shop ever. I’ll keep you posted on our progress.
I’m looking for some part-time help for the new location, by the way. The positions will include retail customer sales, assisting with packaging, decorating chocolate, and yes Martha, washing dishes and cleaning stuff up. If you know someone who’s polite, great with customers, easy to get along with and hard-working, feel free to point them my way.
Kind regards,
Rich
