I had arrived at BFREE in the Belize rain forest and missed Rowan by a day. Few folk in the chocolate industry are familiar with Rowan Jacobsen, but they should be. When Volker Lehmann began developing the first wild-found cacao back in 2010, Rowan was there. When wild cacao in was found in Belize and Brazil, Rowan was there.
Rowan’s releasing his eighth book, Wild Chocolate, which chronicles the discovery and development of wild cacao. Along the way he endured drug traffickers, poisonous plants, biting bugs, and infinite heat and rain. Rowan’s wrote the stories and has agreed to join us for a very special evening–a true chocolate adventure.
4:00-5:00pm Rowan will be signing copies of the book. We’ll have copies available to purchase. This event is FREE, no reservations required, walk-ins welcome.
5:30-7:00pm A tasting of rare wild and Heirloom chocolates mentioned in the book, guided and narrated by Rich and Rowan, who will guide you on a tasting of four chocolates made from cacao detailed in Rowan’s book. –SOLD OUT–
