I was 25 when I discovered The Book ‘tween cookbooks in my mother’s kitchen. I’d not noticed before though it was always there. Colorless but for the scarlet inscription on the opening page.

My mother taught me cooking was love. The Book taught me cooking was understanding.
Years a Chocolatier, I penned a letter of appreciation. He had changed my life as he’d changed a thousand others.

In return a letter appeared, gracious and kind, elegant in handwritten script. The postscript matching The Book’s inscription:
Happy Cooking!
