3.1415 (Ramblin’ Pi Poetry)

3/14/15 9:26:53 will be pi second
and I’ll be at Dancing Lion Chocolate
making mallorcas that are, oddly enough
round; the ratio of the each bun’s circumferance
to it’s diameter being exactly pi (by definition.)
A few hours later I’ll be judging pie (on pi day)
and eating many many pies (each of whom’s
circumference to diameter ratio is exactly pi
(look ma, I’m writing in LISP (which any old-style
coding geek knows is short for “Lots of
Irritating Stupid Parenthesis (but it was
a cool language anyway)))). And so
I’ll find myself tasting many pies with
co-judges Food Editor Susan Laughlin and Helen Ryba host of Chef’s Plate
at Monica’s place–Studio 550. If you’re free
around 3:14pm (and 15.926 seconds), you
might consider wandering on over to the Studio at
550 Elm St (which is why it’s called “Studio 550”
and not “Studio 3.1415926”) to try some of
these pies out for yourself, because you shouldn’t
just count on the esteemed and knowledgeable
opinions of me and Susan and Helen when you
can round (pi pun) out your own opinion
for yourself. It’s pi day. Do I repeat myself? (Does Whitman
repeat himself?) No, I never *ever* repeat myself. Call me irrational
if you will, but it’s transcendental, man. Transcendental.

Have some Pi, y’all.
