On Thursday Paul and I (and his wife Rachel and my friend Alberto) took the harrowing mountain drive to Hugo Hermelink’s chocolate factory in Guácimo near Limon, Costa Rica.
It was nice to catch up with Hugo, taste good chocolate, and learn about Chocolate del Caribe’s unique business approach. The factory tour was fun and interesting, and it’s always pleasant tasting baba (cacao pulp) fresh out of the pod. When I say “pleasant,” I mean it’s one of my favorite culinary experiences in case you can’t tell from the photos. (Thank you to Braydon for the farm tour!)
* Okay, the mountain drive was slow and twisty and rainy, but not particularly harrowing.
