Deep Knowledge.

Kenroy, Extension Officer for the Grenada Cacao Assn works with farmers to help them improve their production practices. He knows each of some 80 clones on sight, and I learned quite a bit as he guided us through the Jouvay demonstration farm last night.#chocolatier #grenada @puregrenada @jouvaychocolate
Kenroy, at the Jouvay Demonstration Farm

Kenroy is the Extension Officer for the Grenada Cacao Association. He helps farmers improve their production practices and knows his cacao. He can identify any of the 80ish varietals grown on the island by sight, and I learned quite a bit as he guided us through the Jouvay demonstration farm.

Kim Russell, Crayfish Bay Chocolate

The walk through the farm capped an educational day, which began with a private chat between me and Kim Russell, activist/cacao farmer and owner of Crayfish Bay Chocolate. An energetic chat about capitalism, equity, cacao farmers, and fairness. The remainder of the Grenada Chocolate Festival guests joined us later for the formal tour of the farm and facilities, and we wrapped with a pairing of top-notch Island rums with Kim and his wife Lylette’s chocolate.

Took the bus to the Jouvay Chocolate Factory for an excellent Grenada lunch and the tour with which I began this post.
